Led Zeppelin ROBERT PLANT Poster 56x40cm Genuine lithographic 1st print by Michael RandolphThis ltd edition poster of Robert "Percy" Plant from Led Zeppelin was shot by renowned Sixties photographer Michael Randolph in 1970 and has the quote "from the edge we have countdown to melt down...don't look back" printed along the bottom margin. It is a guaranteed Faber & Faber 1st and only printing. Although in excellent condition it has some very slight yellowing to the edges.
The posters were published in the 1980s by Faber & Faber. I managed to secure the remaining unsold copies that were put into storage many years ago. So when they are all sold that's it.
They were purchased directly from the photographer - Michael Randolph. Randolph was born in Windsor, Berkshire and befriended and photographed The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and The Doors. He was stills photographer on the films Performance and Clockwork Orange and the 1968 Rolling Stones Rock & Roll Circus. I believe in the eighties he had runs of 500 of some of his work printed as posters.
Size 56x40cm - Approx 22"x16" If exact size is crucial please ask before purchase. Frame is not included.
For those who don't already know The Rock N Roll Circus film was withdrawn from release in 1968 and remained unseen by the public until 1996. ....The Rock N Roll Circus documents a 1968 performance from rock legends the Rolling Stones, The Who, John Lennon, Eric Clapton and others. Mick Jagger's girlfriend at the time Marianne Faithfull, also performs. The unconventional concert takes place in a carnival style big top setting with the musicians wearing outlandish clothes & costumes. Jagger is the ringmaster and introduces the bands, and a collaborative blues set by John Lennon, Eric Clapton and Stones guitarist Keith Richards.
This poster is in near perfect condition. There is just a slight tinge of yellowing to the edges commensurate with age.
