Home News: The great parliamentary farce is over,

with its sequel now in view for the

Labour Party - the twin, familiar

dramas of 'the party tearing itself a-

part', and 'the party reuniting'. On

the opposite page Tom Nairn discusses.

the prospects. On page 4 news about

the attack on Obi Egbuna, the sit-in

at Reading and more brave words from

    the City of London.

Industry: The work-in on the Clyde is now in its

    17th week. At Plessey's, Alexandria,

the factory is occupied. Our industrial

correspondents, on page 5, report on

the new techniques of militancy and

their political meaning for the Labour

    movement.

Capitalism: Ulster is bankrupt, and has been for a

long time. On page 6 we see just how

dependent the province is on government

    aid from the UK.

Foreign News: Last week- China entered the United Na-

tions. Did Nixon fake US anger at the

vote? On our foreign pages (7,8,9) a

from inside China. Also stories from

Spain, Turkey, Egypt, Norway and from

France, the case of M. Labay.

    week-end. Our sports editor, David

Triesman, takes a look at the men who

    run Britain's most popular sport.

Photo-Feature: Half a million people are locked up

at this moment in US gaols. The prisons

    are cradles of black revolutionary

militancy. On the centre pages a picture

    report on what brutalization behind

    bars can really mean.

Photo Report: Also, on page 14, a photo report of

    last Saturday's Gay Liberation Front

demo against Dr Reuben and all he

    stands for.

Life: What is happening in working class

    schools, understaffed and overcrowded?

7 DAYS talked to an apprentice who has

just come off this conveyor belt. Also

on these pages (15,16) news of Profes-

sor Bolo and his fascination with fire.

Ideas: It's common sense to say common sense

is stupid. Geoffrey Nowell Smith takes

    apart this English fetish.

of the *Scoop, Scandal and Strife' ex-

revolutionary. Last week he was in

London. 7 DAYS talked to him. We are

    with Cabral, who describes the

    history of his movement's struggle

    against Portuguese colonialism, the
