Haiti looked like being just another little foreign story about just another
little foreign island. Brian Moynahan and photographer Pat Booth, as
guests of Haiti, secured an exclusive interview with the 26-year-old Presi-
dent, Jean-Claude Duvalier, son of Papa Doc, but it seemed unlikely all
the same to yield more than a good travel story. Then the President
(above, centre) asked if they would like to take a ride round the island. The
events of that day have produced one of the most dramatic stories the
Magazine has published this year. A day in the life of Haiti is on page 24.
